The manager of Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, has said that his players should go for a win in their next Champions League game against the Italian club Napoli. That game will take place at Stadio San Paolo on 11th of December.
The Gunners have performed pretty well in their Champions League matches so far this season. They have won 4 out of their 5 games and have been placed at the top of the Group F points table. But, a knock out berth is still not guaranteed for them. They need one more point from their next game against Napoli which will be their last game in the group stages.
But, Wenger doesn’t want his players to go into the game against Napoli thinking about 1 point only. He wants them to go for a victory.
Talking to the reporters yesterday, the Gunners boss said, “It’s hard to believe that we haven’t qualified yet despite having 12 points in the bag. It’s quite tricky now for us. It’s so easy to think ‘Ok, we need just one point now, so, let’s go for a draw’, but, if we think like that, it will not be appropriate. You should never go into a game with a defensive approach.”
“We should just think about win and should try to play in an aggressive fashion. The job is still to be finished and we have to finish it.”
Currently, in Group F, Borussia Dortmund is at the second position. They have got 3 points less than Arsenal. If they beat Marseille in their next game and Arsenal suffers defeat against Napoli, then, it all will come to the goal difference because both Arsenal and Dortmund will have 12 points each in that situation.
At this point of time, the goal differential of Arsenal is +5, while, that of Dortmund is +4.
