NEW DEAL?

The manager of Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, is close to signing a new contract at the Emirates stadium. The 64 years old Frenchman has been in charge at the club since the last 18 years and he is slowly getting close to Sir Alex Ferguson’s record of managing a particular English club for the maximum amount of time. Sir Alex had managed United for 27 years before retiring at the end of the last season.

Apart from Wenger, the Arsenal board has planned to give one more guy the contract extension. It’s Bacary Sagna. The veteran right back is in the last year of his current contract.

Although Arsenal is not known for giving long contract extensions to the players who are more than 30 years of age, but, considering how important a player Sagna has proved to be for them in the recent times, they might reward him with a long deal.

Some big clubs are believed to have approached Sagna of late with luring offers and he might decide to join one of those clubs if the Gunners hesitate to extend his contract for a long period of time.

The clubs who are interested in securing the services of the French defender are Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. All of them are huge names and are capable of luring any player in the world.

As far as Sagna’s tenure at the Emirates stadium is concerned, he has been there since the last 6 and half years and has managed to become a real star there. He has played close to 200 league games for the Gunners and has scored 4 goals.

There might be an announcement in near future from Arsenal regarding the contract extension of Sagna and Wenger.
