STILL HOPEFUL

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he is still hopeful that the club can win the title this season, despite being 12 points behind the leaders Manchester United. This comes as a very bold statement from the Arsenal manager given that it has been eight seasons since the club last won the Premier league title. This incredible statement comes after the interview by Ferguson in which he said that he felt that only Manchester City are the title challengers for United this season. He has discounted the challenge from both Chelsea and Arsenal ahead of the Premier league weekend.

Wenger has said that he feels that Arsenal will be able to come out on top by the end of December. He has said that the two Manchester sides may be top of the Premier league, but they have been unspectacular so far this campaign. He has cited the numerous defeats suffered by Manchester United, while City have not been fluent in front of goal. Wenger believes that the more number of draws that his team has had have been the reason for them slipping below the two Manchester teams. Arsenal are currently out of the top four positions below the likes of Tottenham, Everton, and West Brom.

“At the moment the two Manchester sides are top. They have not been spectacular but efficient, and they have made the maximum of the chances they have created. For example, Manchester United have already lost three games and have lost in the Champions League as well. It is exactly what we have done but they took more points and had less draws than we did. That has been the difference until now,” said Wenger. Wenger has said that Arsenal should maximise the return from the home matches starting with the one against Swansea this weekend.
